Jake Chambers from the Dark Tower books. Drawn from post-epilogue Book 7; Jake is pulled from a "normal" life in New York. He's regained his memories of his time spent in Midworld but is at peace with them. All worlds move on.

Appearance: In his early-20's, Jake stands about 5’11” and is whipcord lean. His shoulders are broad but his muscles are more stretch than bulk. He looks hard, hard-used, still more pretty than handsome. His skin is tanned to the sort of gold that speaks of someone who doesn’t just go out into the sun, but lives under it; his hair as well, long in his eyes and on the back of his neck, is bleached to a corn blonde. His eyes are blue, and old. Much older than he is.

Abilities / Powers: Jake has what is called the Touch. The Touch is a psychic ability that is part empathy and part telepathy; people gifted with the Touch have the ability to sense things otherwise undetectable using the five senses and are capable of a limited form of precognition. Jake is particularly sensitive to the extreme moods of those around him and, being quite strong in the Touch, he also has the ability to not only glean information from the minds of others, but to communicate information outward as well.

He is rather untrained in all of this. While his empathy is something he feels and does without thought, the telepathy is different. Jake is cautious and too intrinsically good to want to use his gift to its fullest extent, even for curiosity's sake. He sees this part of his gift as invasive. He has much natural skill (quoted as being the strongest since the “world moved on,” and perhaps before,) but only ever applies it in times of absolute and dire need and only ever in love.
